We apologize to those who need Jamie's Preschool but we believe we cannot safely provide our classes during a pandemic. We have sadly suspended classes indefinitely. We wish all of our large extended Jamie's Preschool family a safe journey through this pandemic.
Jamie’s Preschool provides a rich program of play, learning and support for children facing cancer, blood disorders, organ transplants and other critical illnesses. Founded in 1986 by parents of Calgary cancer patients, Jamie’s operates as an independent, registered charity and is one of North America's only early childhood education programs that serves immune-compromised children.
We can't say enough how much we appreciate the kindness and generosity of our community partners. In Calgary and beyond special individuals and groups make it possible for our students and their families to enjoy sheltered opportunities in the community and some good old holiday fun.
Thank you to our friends in the Camp Quality Puppet Program, who delighted a group of Jamie's students with their life-sized puppet show that models how children can be caring and supportive to one another, especially when a child has a major illness such as cancer.
Spring has sprung and we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our regular program to the great outdoors, on a brand new playground built especially for Jamie’s students last November. We are tremendously grateful for every contribution great and small that helped us provide this wonderful opportunity for fun, motor development and fresh air for our preschoolers, most of whom can’t play at public playgrounds due to their fragile immune health.
Another school year begins and It's so exciting to welcome many new families and welcome back so many familiar faces! Our 2014-15 year opened with a wonderful addition to our classroom resources of three brand new, beautiful red tricycles—a gift in memory of our special friend Carter James Macza, who passed away 10 years ago in June 2014.
Our doors opened in September at our wonderful new preschool, centrally located in Calgary's northwest close to the Alberta Children's Hospital. New and returning students are thrilled with their new classroom! Registration is ongoing. Please contact contact@jamiespreschool.ca to learn more.
